We probably do not have to introduce the Indian band Musafir or the films Lacho Drom and Gypsy Caravan to our audience: the contributor artists, musicians and dancers have toured all over the World from Japan to America and they have visited Hungary several times as well. The majority of the performers are from the small villages of the Thar Desert. Their peculiar, faraway world will be invoked by a photo and video show and by a traditional dance performance. The Dance-house – The Folkdance CD series provides the opportunity to young musicians year by year to introduce themselves. In the framework of a special selection round high quality performances of different artists of the Dance-house movement are published every year since 2001. As a result of our new initiative the best ones of 2014 will perform at a CD release concert on 20 March at 7 PM. Contributors of the evening among others will be the Bazseva band, Hanga Borbála Kacsó, Borbála Konkoly, Zsuzsanna Zsikó, Zoltán Zsikó and his band, as well as the Band of Bence Pálházi.Read more »

The new hall of the Museum in Fő utca has been opened on the Day of the Hungarian Culture, 22 January. The aim of the Open Handicraft Studio is to get visitors acquainted with the secrets of the folk handicraft and to let insight the young ones as well as the adults, professionals, students and all those who are interested in folk arts into the collection of the Museum and into the work of the contemporary folk artists.Read more »

Joint exhibition of Gyöngyi Csókos Varga, Lajos Csákvári Nagy and the Nagy family was opened in the Museum of Applied Hungarian Folk Art on 6 February. All members of the Nagy family is artist: sculptor, goldsmith, musical instrument maker, textile artist, pottery maker, painter. Anrea Pölös, the director of the exhibition assembled the exhibition from the master pieces of the Nagy family.
