Folklore Section
Texts, dances and music of brilliant rural artists are kept in our memories, in our feet and voices. These are significant parts of Hungarian traditions that is in turn a vibrant hue in European culture.
The Folklore Section offers courses, programs, exhibitions and publications on the genres of traditional Hungarian cultural heritage.
The goal of the Folklore Section is to preserve and pass on the traditional folklore of the Carpathian Basin, regarding folk music, folk dance, folk narratives and folk games. All the staff of the department are specialists of traditional dances, music or folk narratives of the Carpathian Basin. The Section edits and publishes supplementary educational materials for elementary and special art schools teaching folk music and folk dance.
