XII. National Art of Folk Trades exhibition

The 2018 goal of the XII. National Art of Folk Trades tender is to save, renew and further develop the traditions and technologies of artisan- and cottage industry activities either outside the general realm of traditional applied folk art (woven goods, embroidery, pottery, carving) or being practiced to a lesser extent as the aforementioned. We have invited the craftsman to create works which elaborate on the traditions in new, modern forms.
We have invited craftsmen of several trades to create:
- folk furniture-craftsman, painted furniture-manufacturer, iron artificer, coppersmith, tanner, furrier, baize tailor, blueprinter, come-manufacturer, knife-manufacturer, candle maker, cooper, flask maker, bobbin lace maker, gingerbread maker, etc. activities
- works of twig, husk, straw object makers
- folk garment-accessorizing disciplines: hatter, horsehair spinner, pearler and other folk ornament manufacturer, slipper maker, moccasin maker, bootmaker;
- Professions in connection to exceptional days of folk life and folk conventions: folk instrument maker, Easter egg painter, etc.
The projects are evaluated by the Folk Applied Art Evaluation Committee; the most exceptional works are displayed.
The announcement of the tender and the opening of the exhibition will take place on 2018. May 11, 14 pm in the Hungarian Museum of Applied Folk Art, Budapest.
